Servicing since 1977
Regular servicing of gates and gate motors is essential to ensure optimal performance, longevity, and safety compliance. P&C Fencing offers comprehensive gate and gate motor servicing through our Preventative Maintenance & Servicing Agreement. This plan aims to protect your investment and minimise potential breakdowns, saving you from costly emergency repairs and enhancing the reliability of your gate systems.
Our gate motor servicing covers all crucial aspects, including lubrication of key components like racks, chains, and cogs, as well as alignment checks for brackets, bolts, and rollers. Ensuring these parts are well-maintained prevents premature wear and keeps your gate operating smoothly. P&C Fencing’s team of experienced, qualified technicians conduct meticulous inspections and maintenance procedures, using their specialised expertise to maintain the high standards of your gate motor.
Our servicing also includes regular checks and resets for the electronic components, such as logic boards, which are prone to collecting dust, insects, or debris that can impact performance. We inspect and clear out these enclosures, preventing damage from insect nests or environmental contaminants. For sliding gates, we offer thorough cleaning of tracks and wheels, as debris buildup is a common cause of gate jams and motor strain. Swing gates benefit from regular lubrication of hinges, which avoids metal-on-metal wear and prevents costly replacements due to rust or corrosion.
- Sliding gate racks wear
- Debris builds up on gate tracks, jamming gate wheels
- Insects nest in the electronics
- Hinges/Wheels/Cogs/Chains cease
- Rollers wear and fail
- Maintenance personnel damage/break gate components
- PE safety beams fail
Vehicle gates are a core part of the perimeter security solution used on any property. When automated, they provide quality of life improvements by automatically opening and closing on command. Every movement, however, provides a small amount of wear on the various moving, mechanical components that make up a gate. Much like a car, a gate requires regular maintenance and service to ensure they work as intended and more importantly, remain safe to use.
Unfortunately, when a gate is not maintained, it can become dangerous to use, and in some cases, even fatal.
Numerous people have died in Australia from gate related deaths, and many more have sustained serious injury. Nearly all of these could have been avoided with regular maintenance and servicing, and correct end-user training. When a gate motor is involved, the risk is exacerbated, as a gate motor introduces electronics complexities in addition to the mechanical components.
How often should I service and maintain my gate?
At an absolute minimum every six (6) months. Lubricants dry up, grease breaks down, parts wear and consumables degrade. The more times per day a gate is opened and closed, the more rapidly these items degrade, and the more frequent you must service your gate. The top motor manufacturers all agree with a maintenance frequency guide as follows:
Failure to service and maintain your gate and/or gate motor will void warranty and will lead to serious injury or death. The responsibility to service and maintain your gate and/or gate motor is the end user.
